Does the name Steve Blass ring a bell? (Matthew J. Lee/Globe Staff)

What if all those other (past great) performances and that heralded World Series victory were an aberration, and this is (the real) Josh Beckett?
— Steve Weissman

We diss Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy (well, one of us does), debate whether Beckett has an evil twin, and wonder if the curtain on this Red Sox season just came crashing down, with our newest insider, Boston Baseball Examiner, Steve Weissman.

Know who has more wins than any team in the minors? Salem Red Sox, that’s who. Our Travis Williams, the Roanoke Sports Examiner for Examiner.com names a few reasons why our high-Class A farm team in Virgina has yet to lose a game in May and threaten to lay waste to the Carolina League.

Around the horn we go with reports from Triple-A Pawtucket and Rhode Island Sports Examiner, Tony Branco… Sea Dogs broadcaster, Mike Antonellis has the exciting call of a two-out, ninth inning Portland rally… and Greenville Drive Examiner, Richard Breen weighs in from South Carolina on the talented kids who are powering the Drive (low-Class A) in the South Atlantic League.

Stephen Strasburg aces his Triple-A debut allowing one hit over six for Syracuse (Kevin Rivoli/AP)

Looks like May 17th is the night to get tickets (good luck) to see the Paw Sox at McCoy Stadium. Stephen Strasburg, baseball’s top draft pick is slated to pitch for Syracuse(Nationals) that night. What a start he made to his Triple-A career on Friday night. Routinely touching 96 (occasionally 98, 99) on the gun. Just one hit. Six Ks, one walk and the Chiefs blanked Gwinett, 7-0. Did we mention he also drove in a run? Real deal.

Theme music this show is “Bontemps Roulez” by Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra, an 11-piece explosion of love and righteousness specializing in Groovy New Orleans-inspired Roots Rock/Soul with a Gospel feel. We dare you not to dance!
